A’Jamal Byndon

Chair

continues to write a bi-monthly article in their newsletter called Nebraska Reports. A’Jamal was one of Omaha Table Talk founding members, a program that helps community members talk about race over dinners. He is currently working with the local government dealing with issues affecting the youth of color.

A'Jamal Byndon is a lifelong resident of Nebraska. A'Jamal served two years in the Peace Corps in the Republic of Botswana. A’Jamal worked in the north and south Omaha food pantries and community services at Catholic Charities for 25 years and left as Senior Director for Public Policy and Advocacy. He has taught cultural humility, racial diversity courses at Metro Community College; at Nebraska Methodist College, he developed and introduced their first racial diversity course. His last adjunct position was teaching in the Black Studies at UNO. He taught a class on Race and African American families for the UNO School of Social Work and race and poverty at UNO. He also developed and taught the first multicultural counseling courses at Metro Community College in 1992.  

He served on boards of the Latino Center for the Midlands as Vice-Chair. He served as Chair of the Charles Drew Health Center and was on the Nebraskans for Peace board, where he

Terrell McKinney

Terrell McKinney is a father, state senator representing District 11 in the Nebraska State Legislature, community organizer, activist, and wrestling coach within the North Omaha community. Before running for office, he worked as a community organizer focusing on food insecurity and Medicaid expansion. Terrell holds a Bachelor of Science in Sport Business Management from Maryville University St Louis, Masters in Business Administration from Midland University. He is currently a law student at Creighton University School of Law.

Jack Dunn

Jack Dunn founded the initial incarnation of MORE back in 2009.  He still hangs on with the current high-powered group of board member hoping that they don't notice that he's slowing down.  Interests: small-c catholic, Tax Increment Financing, progressive political organizing and others too many to mention that keep distracting him from actually accomplishing much.

Karen Abrams

Treasurer

Karen Abrams, MPH: Karen is a nonprofit leader, public health practitioner, convener, facilitator, trainer, and strategic planner. She’s a a mom, a friend, a podcast listener, a food-lover, a tree-hugger, and a frequent dog-walker. Karen enjoys long talks about interesting things, facilitating collaborative teams through planning and implementation processes, and cultivating sustainable systems change. Karen finds purpose in inspiring people, building networks, and cultivating partnerships. She has a special fondness for helping to make change happen through people by creating opportunities for civic engagement.

Riley Wilson

Riley Wilson is currently a law student at Creighton University School of Law and serves as the Secretary of the MORE board. Most recently, Riley interned as a law clerk at the Office of the Federal Public Defender for the District of Nebraska. Riley also began volunteering as a legal observer during protests and demonstrations in Omaha and has conducted legal observer training to individuals interested in protecting the rights of protesters and demonstrators in Omaha.

Riley has previously worked as an intern with the Nebraska Democratic Party and a canvasser for Planned Parenthood of the Heartland to speak with women about health care and the Affordable Care Act. From 2011-2017, Riley served in the United States Air Force as an intelligence analyst, earned an associate’s degree in intelligence studies and completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Upon finishing his service in the military, Riley worked as a veteran workforce coordinator at the Nebraska Department of Labor where he worked with veterans who have significant barriers to employment, including incarcerated and previously incarcerated veterans, and provided them assistance with obtaining employment and veteran-related issues.

Kimara Snipes

Kimara Snipes Senior Director with 15 years of experience in nonprofit and organizational leadership and management, grantmaking, strategic planning and community organizing. Proven ability to capture opportunities for growth

and establishing key relationships with government and community

partners. Excited to bring 30+ years of leadership experience as the

Executive Director of the Family Resource Center.

Lachelle Patrice Rankins

Lachelle Patrice Rankins was born and raised in Omaha. Lachelle attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she majored in Political Science with minors in History, English, and Philosophy. Prior to joining the non-profit sector, Lachelle worked at PayPal and LinkedIn. At LinkedIn, Lachelle was dedicated to diversity, inclusion, and Belonging Initiatives. She also served as the Omaha office lead for the Social Impact Team and the Black Employee Resource Group. 

Lachelle joined Project Harmony in 2018, working on the Development Team; followed by time at the Tri-Faith Initiative. She now works at Inclusive Communities, as their Director of Strategic Partnerships.
